On interest rates
Rates change frequently and are set per applicant, so we do not republish a figure here. Check ICICI Bank’s current rate on their own site, then work out the real cost with our EMI calculator.
Why the relationship counts more here
Pre-approved offers at ICICI go to customers with a clean repayment record on the bank's own products — a salary account, a savings account, an existing loan or credit card. Nothing surprising so far. What is less common is that the bank also extends pre-approved offers to some customers with no credit history, assessing income and savings behaviour instead of a bureau score.
For most people that is a footnote. For someone new to credit it can be the whole answer. A first-time borrower with a salary account and a steady balance is invisible to the bureau but entirely visible to their own bank — and that visibility is exactly what substitutes for a score. If you are in that position, our no credit history page covers the wider problem, but the practical first move is simply to check the app of the bank you already use.
Eligibility
| Criterion | Typical position |
|---|---|
| Minimum monthly income | Around ₹30,000 |
| Minimum age | 20 at application |
| Maximum age | 58 at loan maturity |
| Employment | Salaried, with self-employed assessed separately |
| Credit score | Around 720+, with exceptions for existing customers |
| Best route | Pre-approved offer in iMobile, where available |
Two of these are stricter than at several competitors and worth noting before you apply. The income bar of roughly ₹30,000 is above the ₹15,000 to ₹25,000 common elsewhere. And the age limit of 58 at maturity — not 58 at application — quietly shortens the tenure available to anyone in their fifties.
Did you know?
An age limit "at maturity" is not the same as an age limit at application, and the difference decides your tenure. At 54, a 58-at-maturity rule caps your loan at four years however much you earn — which raises the EMI substantially compared with the five or seven years a younger applicant would be offered on the same amount. If you are over 50, check the maturity age before the interest rate; it will affect your monthly outgo more.
Applying
If you bank with ICICI, the pre-approved route through iMobile is the one to check first — no documents, no hard enquiry to look, and pricing that is often better than the public rate card. If you do not, it is an ordinary application assessed on income, employer and score, and you should check your own bank's offer before applying here for exactly the reasons set out on our banks page.
Expert insight
If you are new to credit and your own bank offers you a small pre-approved loan, the right move is usually to take a modest amount and repay it perfectly, even if you could manage without it. Six to twelve clean instalments create the bureau history that every other lender needs before it will consider you, and it is far cheaper to build that record on a small loan now than to be forced into a high-rate one later because nobody can assess you. Treat the first loan as a credential, not just as money.
How much you can borrow
Whatever the pre-approved figure says, the underlying test is the same everywhere: total EMIs capped as a share of net income, with existing loans and credit card balances deducted first. Our eligibility calculator runs that calculation, and the loan by salary page works it through at each income level.

Questions this page gets asked
What is the minimum salary for an ICICI personal loan?
Around ₹30,000 a month, which is higher than several competing banks require.
Can I get an ICICI loan with no credit history?
Sometimes, if you are an existing customer. ICICI extends pre-approved offers to some customers with no bureau record, assessing income and savings history instead.
What is the maximum age?
Commonly 58 at loan maturity rather than at application, which shortens the tenure available to older applicants.
How do I check a pre-approved offer?
Through iMobile or ICICI netbanking. Viewing an existing offer involves no hard enquiry.
What CIBIL score does ICICI want?
Around 720 and above for an ordinary application, with more flexibility for existing customers with a clean record on the bank's own products.
Is the pre-approved offer negotiable?
The rate sometimes is, particularly with a competing written offer. The processing fee usually is.
Can self-employed people apply?
Yes, assessed on ITR and banking history rather than payslips. See our self-employed page.
Should I apply to ICICI and other banks together to compare?
No. Each application is a hard enquiry and several together lower your score. Compare with soft enquiries, then apply once.
Conclusion
ICICI rewards a relationship more than most, and for one group in particular — customers with a clean account but no bureau file — it can be the difference between borrowing and not borrowing at all.
The two things to check before the rate are the income bar, which is higher here than at several banks, and the maturity age, which quietly decides your tenure if you are over fifty. If you bank with ICICI, look at the app first. If you do not, look at your own bank's app first. Other lenders are covered under personal loan from banks.
