Hero FinCorp Personal Loan

Two things set Hero FinCorp apart: it lends on incomes from ₹15,000, and it will assess a self-employed applicant without ITR at all. The trade is a ₹5 lakh ceiling and a short term.

On interest rates

Rates change frequently and are set per applicant, so we do not republish a figure here. Check Hero FinCorp’s current rate on their own site, then work out the real cost with our EMI calculator.

Being assessed without ITR

For a self-employed applicant, the usual obstacle is documentation rather than income. A shop that turns over ₹5 lakh a month can be unbankable simply because its returns understate it, or because it has not been filing long enough. Our loan without ITR page covers how widespread that problem is.

Hero FinCorp takes a different route: with your consent it assesses your digital financial footprint — the transaction record your banking and payments already generate — rather than requiring physical income proof or filed returns. Two years of stable business operation is still expected, so this is not an absence of assessment. It is a different evidence base.

That is genuinely useful for small traders, gig workers and early-stage self-employed applicants whose money moves through their accounts even though the paperwork lags behind. One point to be clear-eyed about: consenting to that access is a real privacy decision, and worth making deliberately rather than by tapping through a screen.

The ceiling and the term

The flexibility is paid for with size. The loan runs from ₹50,000 to ₹5 lakh, over 12 to 36 months. Both numbers are well below the market, and together they push the EMI up sharply on a full-size loan.

LoanOver 36 months (here)Over 60 months (elsewhere)
₹3 lakh at 16%About ₹10,547About ₹7,295
₹5 lakh at 16%About ₹17,578About ₹12,159

On ₹5 lakh that is roughly ₹5,400 more each month. For a borrower on ₹15,000 to ₹25,000 income, the FOIR test will usually cap the sanction long before the ₹5 lakh ceiling becomes relevant. Run your own figures on our eligibility calculator with the tenure set to 36 to see what this actually means for you.

There is a compensation, though, and it is worth stating: a shorter term means substantially less total interest. On ₹5 lakh at 16%, three years costs about ₹1.33 lakh in interest against roughly ₹2.30 lakh over five. The higher EMI is not simply worse — it is the same loan, repaid faster and more cheaply.

Did you know?

A lender that will write a ₹50,000 loan is doing something most will not. Many lenders set a floor of ₹1 lakh because the cost of processing is much the same whatever the size — which quietly forces someone who needs ₹60,000 either to borrow far more than they need, or to fall back on a credit card at roughly double the rate. If your requirement is genuinely small, a low floor is worth more than a headline rate.

Expert insight

For a borrower on a modest income, a small loan repaid cleanly is worth more than the money itself. Twelve months of perfect repayment reported to the bureaus is what moves a thin or weak file into territory where banks will look at you — and bank pricing is several points below anything an NBFC can offer. Borrow the smallest amount that solves the problem, repay every instalment on the due date, and treat the next loan, not this one, as the one where you save money.

Eligibility

  • Age — generally 21 to 58 at loan maturity.
  • Income — from about ₹15,000 a month, for salaried and self-employed alike.
  • Experience — six months for salaried applicants, two years of stable operations for self-employed.
  • Credit score — 725 and above preferred, though a lower score is not an automatic decline; it usually means a smaller amount or a higher rate.
  • Process — fully digital, with approval possible within minutes and disbursal often the same day.

Questions this page gets asked

Can I get a loan without ITR?

For self-employed applicants, yes — assessment can run on your digital financial footprint with your consent, instead of filed returns. Two years of stable operations is still expected.

What is the minimum salary?

About ₹15,000 a month, which is among the lowest in the market.

How much can I borrow?

Between ₹50,000 and ₹5 lakh. Your own sanction depends on income against existing EMIs.

Why is the tenure only 36 months?

It is a small-ticket product. The EMI is higher than a five-year loan, but total interest is considerably lower.

What credit score is needed?

Around 725 preferred. A lower score is not an automatic decline, but usually means a smaller loan or a higher rate.

How long does approval take?

Often minutes, with disbursal frequently the same day after e-KYC and verification.

Is granting access to my financial data safe?

It is a real privacy decision. Grant it only to an RBI-registered lender, as Hero FinCorp is, and read what is being requested rather than tapping through.

Can I move to a bank later?

Yes. Twelve months of clean repayment often lifts a file into bank territory — see our balance transfer calculator for whether switching pays.

Conclusion

Hero FinCorp fills two gaps the market mostly ignores: small loans for modest incomes, and self-employed applicants who cannot produce ITR. If you are in either group, this is a realistic route where most lenders are simply closed.

Go in knowing the shape of it — a ₹5 lakh ceiling, a three-year maximum, and an EMI that runs high as a result. Borrow the smallest amount that solves your problem, repay it perfectly, and use it to reach cheaper money next time. Other options are on our NBFC page.
